Limiting Product Access & Quantity
Question:
How do we only limit a product to be viewed by certain customers and to have a maximum quantity per customer? We don't have any SSO or loyalty integrations to assist with this.
Answer:
- Firstly, you are going to need to make sure you have the correct list of season ticket holders as you currently don't have an SSO integration to notify the webstore on who these individuals are. You will need to upload a file into a customer group.
- Next, against the product, you need to select the two highlighted fields and ensure the Customer Group is set to Season Ticket Holders. This is done within Stock Amendment.
- Note here the two fields regarding availability ('Max Item Available' and 'Max Quantity Per Customer' will not only validate on checkout but also display as alert boxes on the Product Display Page.
- When someone goes to purchase this product, if they are in the Season Ticket Holder list then they will checkout like usual however if not they will encounter an error when triggering the Pay Now action on the checkout page. If they are not eligible they will receive the below error message.
- To make the product hidden you will need to amend a few areas to the usual product listing setup. This can all be done within Catalogue File Maintenance against the product
- First remove it's connection to the Menu navigation bar which can be done by removing the link in Web Page and Ranking Maintenance.
- Secondly you need to give the product a specific URL. This will need to follow the same URL structure after the domain (roverstore.co.uk) to be /X/X/X/product.html. You can usually take this structure by briefly creating a ranking (reverse of the step above) then locating the product on the site. This means the product will only show via the URL and will not be found via an item search of the website either.
