When setting up or managing squad lists within the training ground system, one of the most common challenges users face is understanding where and how to add, edit, or delete teams such as Football, Rugby, Basketball, or even more specific variants like Women’s Rugby. If you're trying to create a new team such as WOMENS RUGBY and it doesn’t appear in the dropdown when assigning players to a squad, the issue typically lies in how the team list is sourced and maintained within the system.
The good news is that this list is not hardcoded or static—it’s dynamically pulled from a central configuration module. Understanding this flow is key to successfully managing your team structure.
The list of available teams that appears when creating a squad—such as FOOTBALL, RUGBY, BASKETBALL—is not managed directly within the squad setup interface. Instead, it is sourced from a system-wide configuration called Brand Group Maintenance, located under the File Maintenance section of the back office.
To access this, navigate to:

This page is the central hub for defining which Teams are recognized by the training ground system. Each Brand in this list corresponds to a team or team category, and the system uses these entries to populate the team selection dropdowns across various modules, including squad creation and personalization.
If you want to add a new team like WOMENS RUGBY, you must first ensure it exists as a valid Team in this maintenance screen. The system does not allow you to create a team directly in the squad list—it must be defined at the Team level first.
To create a new team such as WOMENS RUGBY, follow these steps:
Access Brand Group Maintenance
Go to File Maintenance > Brand Group Maintenance (the URL provided above).
Create a New Brand Entry
Use the system to add a new Brand . Enter a unique Brand code (e.g., 605) and a descriptive name such as WOMENS RUGBY. Ensure the Brand type is set appropriately—usually Team or Training Ground depending on your system configuration.
Link the Brand to the Training Ground System
After creating the Brand, you must ensure it’s included in the training ground system’s active list. Navigate to:
File Maintenance > System Configuration > Wholesale Tab
Locate the field labeled "training ground / stadium wholesale Brands".
Enter the Brand code you just created (e.g., 605) in this field, separated by commas if adding multiple Brand.
Verify the Team Appears in Squad Setup
Once the Brand is saved and the configuration updated, return to the squad creation interface. The new team WOMENS RUGBY should now appear in the team selection dropdown.
Note: Changes may take a few minutes to reflect across all modules. If the team still doesn’t appear, clear your browser cache or log out and back in to refresh the session.
If you need to rename or delete a team, the process is similar but requires caution to avoid disrupting active squad data.
To change a team’s name (e.g., from RUGBY to MENS RUGBY), go to Brand Group Maintenance, locate the relevant Brand, and update the name field. The change will automatically reflect in all downstream systems, including squad lists and order configurations.
Deleting a team is not as simple as removing it from the dropdown. The system will prevent deletion if the team is still linked to active players, squad assignments, or stock allocations.
Before removing a team:
Once all dependencies are resolved, you can delete the Brand from Brand Group Maintenance. However, it’s often safer to deactivate or archive the team by renaming it to Unassigned or Inactive – [Team Name] rather than deleting it entirely. This preserves historical data and avoids potential errors in reporting or order tracking.
A common point of confusion is why a newly created team doesn’t show up in the squad selection. The most frequent cause is that the Brand was created but not included in the "training ground / stadium wholesale Brandes" list under System Configuration.
Even if a Brand exists in Brand Group Maintenance, it won’t appear in the training ground system unless explicitly added to that configuration field. Always double-check this step after creating a new team.
Additionally, ensure that the Brand type is correctly set to allow inclusion in the training ground system. Some Brand types may be restricted to internal use only and won’t appear in public-facing or squad-related dropdowns.
To maintain a clean and functional team structure:
By managing teams through the central Brand Group Maintenance system, you ensure consistency across all modules—squad lists, stock allocation, order processing, and reporting.
Creating a new team like WOMENS RUGBY is straightforward once you understand the underlying system architecture. The key is to treat team creation as a two-step process: first, define the team as a Brand in Brand Group Maintenance, and second, include it in the training ground system’s active Brand list via System Configuration.
This approach ensures that your team list remains dynamic, scalable, and fully integrated with the rest of the system. Whether you're adding a new sport, creating a gender-specific team, or reorganizing your structure, following this workflow will help you avoid common pitfalls and maintain data integrity.
If you’re still having trouble, double-check your Brand codes, confirm the configuration field is correctly populated, and ensure no active assignments are blocking changes. With the right setup, your training ground system can support any team structure you need—no matter how specific or unique.
