How to Enable the Image Gallery on Product Pages

This article explains how to enable and configure the Image Light Gallery for product pages via the system configuration. This feature enhances the visual presentation of product images and videos, offering a more interactive experience for customers.



Overview

The Light Gallery displays product media in a structured sequence: main image, rear view image, autoplay video, and additional images. It adapts to different screen sizes and provides a slider on medium and small screens. This guide walks you through enabling the gallery and understanding its behaviour across devices.


  1. Access System Configuration
    • Go to the System Configuration panel in your admin interface.
  2. Navigate to Frontend Components
    • Locate the section labelled Frontend Components.
  3. Enable Light Gallery
    • Find the setting for New light box Product Gallery.
    • Toggle it to Enabled - on.
    • Save your changes.
  4. Verify on Product Page
    • Visit any product page to confirm the gallery is active.
    • You should see the new gallery layout with the following sequence:
      • Main image
      • Rear view image (as thumbnail only)
      • Autoplay video (as thumbnail only)
      • Extra images
Notes
  • Video Uploads: 
  • Dimensions ideally should be similar to the product images for display consistency.

  • Length / File Size: Videos can greatly impact storage usability so, depending on your storage package, different file sizes are advisable.
  • For optimal experience, ideally around 4-5 MB is suggested.

  • Ensure this is considered when preparing product media. 
  • Image Order: The gallery follows a fixed order - main image, rear view, video, then extras.
