PLP Configurable Portrait Mode - Portrait Mode Images
This article explains how to configure the Portrait Mode and Portrait Style Images settings in the Backoffice system under File Maintenance > Sys Config > Web Specific Menu. These options allow you to control how product images are displayed and uploaded on your website, giving you flexibility in presentation and image handling.
Please note: The system will not automatically convert square images to portrait or vice versa. Ensure all images are correctly resized and reuploaded to match the required dimensions.
Additionally please note that you must also update your shirt personalisation rearview image with the correct dimensions and relevant personalisation preview configuration.
Overview of Options
There are two independent settings:
Portrait Mode
- Description: Forces product images to display in a portrait layout on the website.
- Use Case: Ideal when you want the website to present products in a vertical format.
Portrait Style Images
- Description: Applies portrait-style dimension restrictions to uploaded images.
- Use Case: Useful when uploading portrait-oriented images even if the website still displays them in square format.
Note: These settings are not linked. You can enable one, both, or neither depending on your requirements.
Log in to Backoffice
- Use your admin credentials to access the Backoffice system.
Navigate to System Configuration
- Go to:
File Maintenance > Sys Config > Web Specific Menu
Locate the Portrait Mode Settings
Enable or Disable Each Option
- Tick the radiobox to "On" to enable either setting.
- "Off" to disable.
You can choose:
- Only Portrait Mode
- Only Portrait Style Images
- Both
- Neither
Save Your Changes
- Click Save or Apply to confirm your configuration.
Tips
- If you're switching to portrait display on the website, ensure your product images are optimised for vertical viewing.
- Use Portrait Style Images when preparing your image uploads in advance of a layout change.
Common Issues
- Images appear stretched or cropped: Check that the uploaded images match the expected dimensions for portrait style.
- Changes not reflecting on the website: Confirm that the correct setting is enabled and that the website cache has been cleared if necessary.
Summary
By configuring these two settings, you can control both how product images are displayed and how they are uploaded. This gives you flexibility to prepare your content ahead of layout changes or maintain consistency in image presentation.
